New wet snow product and updated CryoLand4Newbies

07 April 2016: A new wet snow cover product is now available for the Alpine area. The product development started within CryoLand, and was completed within the EU FP7 project SEN3APP. Demonstration products of the melting season 2015 over the Alps, as well as new products for the melting season 2016 will be provided through the CryoLand GeoPortal.

The Snow Products website, as well as the CryoLand4Newbies document were updated with this new product Wet Snow Cover over Alps (multitemp_SCAW_Alps_Radar).

New scripts for automated access of CryoLand products available

08 April 2015: For automatically accessing, downloading and analysing CryoLand products we provide for your convenience new scripts written in Python and IDL in the Downloads menu (link). Feel free to use or adapt these scripts according to your needs.

Pan-European Snow Services

2017-04-18: Documentation of the Pan-European Snow Services online

The documentation of the pan-European snow services is now available for download.

The Pan-European services "Fractional Snow Cover" and "Snow Water Equivalent" were developed during the CryoLand project, and are still provided in near real time by the service operators ENVEO and FMI, respectively. Daily products are available from the CryoLand GeoPortal (http://neso.cryoland.enveo.at/cryoland/cryoclient/).

Further, these services are currently in preparation to be integrated into the Copernicus Global Land Service (CLOPS-2).

 

 

User requirements for the snow and land ice services - CryoLand

The user requirements for the snow and land ice services collected during the EU FP7 project CryoLand (2011 - 2015) are now available for download.

Scripts for automated download of CryoLand products

We provide here three examples of scripts written in Python and IDL for automatically accessing, downloading and analysing CryoLand products.

Feel free to use and/or adapt these scripts so that you have the best benefit for your application.

This example demonstrates a simple download procedure, mainly intended for automated usage e.g. to receive the most recent snow product on a daily basis.

Download & Analyse example - implemented in IDL
Beside a direct download functionality this script demonstrates the possibility of combining the download with an immediate data extraction and analysis. It is intended to demonstrate the possibility that users may access the CryoLand GeoPortal and directly integrate the received data (or processed results) into their existing knowledge systems.
